Funny Dutch language

So I was in my motel room in Amsterdam,

Watching Forest Gump with Dutch subtitles...

....and I swear...

when someone called Forest Gump a "loser," the word that popped up in the subtitle was...........

"shlemiel."

Yes........due to the large Jewish presence here since the 1400s.......Yiddish words are part of Dutch.

Yesterday I saw a restaurant sign saying "restaurant Schimuck."

I saw a boat with a star of David on it and asked the guy if they were Jewish.....

He said no.....that the star of David is a symbol associated with Amsterdam.

And.......when I was watching some German teens trying to play billiard.........

There were 3 balls remaining, including the black eight ball............and one of the German chicks says......."Git da svartsa."

I saw a film on tv starring Richard Burton in the 1960s.

He was really angry and I had to listen to him speaking dubbed German.................he sounded like a Nazi.

Went to a dog park with a lake in Amsterdam.

A little terrier would fetch a stick in the lake and bring it back, but could not get out of the lake due to a barrier...........so he'd be dog paddling and I'd pick up the stick with the doggie attached and pull him out of the lake.

He would dive into the lake after the stick after a moment of hesitation...
