November 24, 2008 – trip to Morocco & West-Sahara
A friend of mine has asked me quite a few times if I’d like to go to Morocco with him. He’s been there before but thought that even though it shouldn’t be too dangerous, he wouldn’t like to take the trip to West-Sahara, more specifically Laayoune alone. Last time he was in Morocco his bus caught fire, go figure. I do hope it won’t happen this time, at least not while I’m there. Or if it does, I hope I can at least get a few good shots of it.
If I remember correctly (well, I got my friend to buy the plane tickets so I really don’t remember the exact dates) this is when something will happen:
24. Nov – we take a bus from Estonia, Tallinn to Riga, Lithuania
24. Nov – later that day we take a plane from Riga to Düsseldorf, Germany
25. Nov – Düsseldorf, Germany -> Marrakech, Morocco
Now, neither of us knows exactly what we’re doing to do there or where we’re going to go. But we have the idea to spend some time in Marrakech and then maybe move on to Laayoune. Getting to either of them will expect lengthy bus rides of course. And 12-36 hours in bus in burning busses in Morocco don’t sound too inviting, but we’ll see about that. Maybe, just maybe, we won’t catch fire this time.
We intend to come back on 4th December, spend couple of days in Germany and then take a plan back to Riga & then bus to Estonia on 7th Dec. We’ll see how things will avtually go of course.
