It was December 3rd, the weather wasn’t too bad, especially considering when we started our trip, there were snowstorms. Now all that was there was a bit of rain. Our flight was supposed to leave at 7am the next day so we had loads of time to waste. It was around 16pm when we arrived in Weeze and now we decided to walk to the villages nearby to get something to eat and drink a beer or two.

The first little place we walked to was about 3 km from the airport and I think there was only one pub...and for some reason they didn’t accept credit cards or anything else, just some EC card which was plain stupid. So we left this little place and decided to walk to Weeze instead, it was about 6km trip.

Once we got there, to our surprise even there we couldn’t pay by card, even not in the supermarket. So we went to look for an ATM. And the first one we found ... well, our cards didn’t work there, at least not good enough to open the door to get to the ATM. So I decided to ask a guy passing us if he knew of any other ATMs around here, well, he did and he showed us the way. The weird thing is that this guy was Polish and he didn’t speak any German, English or even Russian. And we was living and working in Weeze. Go figure.

Finally, with money in our wallet, bag full of food to „survive” the night we found a bar in Weeze and spent couple of...well, we drank quite a few beers there, and finally took a taxi back the airport and slept like babies for the next 5 hours thanks to the slight intoxication. And except for the hard hangover at 5am, I’m sure that otherwise I wouldn’t have got any sleep at all.

We landed in Riga around 11am and were back in Estonia 3 hours later. Happy, tired, still a bit drugged. Knowing that it was a great trip. But not a vacation- especially considering we spent about 50-70 hours in different modes of transportation.

In my next posts I’ll tell you a bit more about some topics individually – like prices in Morocco, driving, hotels and so on.
