I guess the main thing is....or at least one of the main things is the fact that I'm travelling alone and not really looking for company. I actually like it by myself. Sure, sometimes meeting new people is great, can't argue with that, but when you're travelling alone, it gives you something. Can't even say what, but it does give you something.
And I like beer. Even though while at home, I don't drink alone, except for some casual beers next do lunch...or instead of it, while travelling alone, I do like the time when I'm alone, have a beer or....some more, think my own thoughts, make plans, see the people around me and so on.
Beer, as I see it, is a drink like water or orange juice...except for the fact that compared to these two, beer has three main components - water, vitamins and some alcohol....so how can you not like it?
The only thing about beer is how it influences you. For example, while being in Nice, I really can't drink much. Of course, as Nice is an expensive city, I can't afford much, but then again, while travelling, you know that already and have calculated with these prices. But the other thing is that with warm, no, hot weather you don't even want to eat much. So lately I have actually started counting calories. No, I have a small beer belly anyway, that doesn't bother me, but rather, I try to make sure I eat at least half of what I'm supposed to. For example, today I have eaten something like 800-900 calories...which..considering I have walked around in the sun for 2-3 hours, is very little. Plus I have drunk some beers, of course. So after you have eaten this little, the beers starts to get to you, not in a good way, thus you can't really drink as much you have used to. In Nice, 3-4 half a litre beers at once is pretty much the maximum I can take. At home, 3-4 beers is what I could drink during my lunch..of course, I don't usually drink during my lunch...except sometimes, but you get the picture.
